It is so nice to decorate the table during Christmas Holiday Season. It can be a formal dinner party for 20 or a luncheon for your close friends. It can also be a Saturday night pizza with your family around.
Here are some suggestions to make your holiday table special:
1. Have holiday theme table runners going down the center of your table. If you have a round table, put two runners going across each other.
2. In the center of the table, put a wreath with a large red or green candle in the center. Along the outside of the wreath, put tiny wrapped Christmas presents and votive candles. Place a few other, scented candles around the dining room and eat by candle light.
3. Put a small Nutcracker at each person’s place setting with a small card on which you have written their name.

4. Colorful napkins with Christmas theme napkin rings are always welcome.
5. When the season first starts, bring out all of your special holiday serving dishes and dinnerware and use them for your holiday meals.
6. Use Christmas themed dinnerware for your table. Many fine companies make china with holiday patterns and matching accessories. Here are some that I really like:
Lenox makes some great holiday dinnerware and accessories. Their “Holiday Gatherings” and “Winter Greetings” collections are made of ironstone or stoneware and come in a variety of designs.
In 1974, Lenox introduced “Holiday by Lenox”, a holly and berry theme that is a classic. These lovely pieces are made of ivory bone china and have a gold band.
England’s oldest pottery factory, Spode, has a classic pattern called “Christmas Tree.” The tree has ornaments, gifts, and garlands.
Mikasa has very lovely and elegant Christmas themed dinnerware with all the accessories. Their “Italian Holiday” and “Parchment Red” collections are especially lovely.
Portmeirion makes a lovely collection named after an English Christmas Carol from the 1600′s “Holly and Ivy.” You will be able to find tableware and accessories decorated with holly and ivy with an ivy garland encircling the outside edges.
Very elegant is Vietri’s “Winter Berry” collection. The glass dishes have a dramatic red background with different motifs or pine, berries, and holly.
Famous Christmas Tree Ornament designer, Christopher Radko, offers a collection with a Christmas tree surrounded by a wreath bestowed with ribbons. Very lovely, indeed!
Holiday season is a season to enjoy with your family and friends. To make it more special, it is best to have great tabletop decorations.
