Holiday season is a great joy to family who celebrate it watching movies together. When the weather turns cold, Christmas decorations, list of Christmas recipes, including the green popcorn bowl and hot cocoa mugs are being ready.
Each of us has their own favorite movies and each year new ones are introduced. When a movie is scheduled, we all settle down in the family room, with a fire going in the fireplace, and enjoy the movie and our time together.
Here is a list of some of the movies we have enjoyed in recent years:
1. MIRACLE ON 34th STREET – the original version (1947) with Maureen O’Hara, Natalie Wood and Edmund Gwenn. Santa Claus is hired by Macy’s to be their in-store Santa and no one believes him when he tells them he is the real Santa Claus. So, he goes to Court to prove his identity.
2. MRS. SANTA CLAUS – A delightful musical starring Angela Lansbury, Charles Durning and Santa’s reindeer! AT the beginning of the 20th Century, Mrs. Claus and the reindeer go off to New York City for a week-long visit and have many exciting adventures.
3. A MUPPET FAMILY CHRISTMAS – The Muppet gang gets stranded by a blizzard with Sesame Street favorites in this happy musical. It’s Christmas Eve, and the gang celebrates with songs, slapstick, and Miss Piggy!
4. THE LITTLEST ANGEL – Young Ryan is unhappy when his family must move to a new town. The first assignment of the Littlest Angel, an accident-prone rookie, is to help Ryan find new friends. Unsure of what to do, the Little Angel returns to heaven to get some advice from a veteran angel (voice by Naomi Judd).
5. THE LIFE AND ADVENTURES OF SANTA CLAUS - This movie is an interesting story about Santa Claus’ early life. The immortal citizens who live in the forest of Burzee have gathered to decide the fate of Santa Claus – whether he is to remain mortal or be given eternal life. A wizard named Ak found him abandoned in the forest when he was a baby and he was brought up by the people of the forest in an environment of peace. Ak shows him the mortal world full of misery and unhappiness, and Santa decides to make all the little children happy by giving them toys each year.
Well, dig out the big green popcorn bowl and the hot cocoa mugs for your Christmas season viewing. This is a suggestion to consider in having a wonderful Christmas.
